This are a selection of my first works in low fire.

I made these in the Summer/Fall of 2020. I was just getting back into throwing again after being unable to work at MassArt due to COVID-19. Once again, I was relearning skills and throwing with white stoneware, a very smooth and plastic clay very similar to the B-MIX 5 I used in Fall of 2019.

I hadn’t used low fire glazes before, outside of to coat my teapots in clear glaze, so my glaze applications often did not work as I expected. Low fire glazes, because they do not melt as much as mid or high fire, end up being very flat after firing. I expected more reactions from glaze combinations and effects from melting. Because of this, I changed my focus to using underglazes instead to create surface design.
